HARLEM, NY — A cake-spot in Harlem was just named among the best bakeries in all of New York City.

Earlier this week, TimeOut published a list of "NYC's 31 best bakeries."

Lloyd's Carrot Cake, located at 1553 Lexington Ave. near East 99th Street, was the only bakery in Upper Manhattan to earn a spot on the list.

Here's what TimeOut had to say about the East Harlem bakery.

"This NYC favorite, family-owned business has been in operation since 1986, and today it has locations in the Bronx and in East Harlem," TimeOut wrote. "Lloyd's titular item (available by the slice up to party-sized!) is an obvious star, and red velvet, chocolate, strawberry and pineapple cakes all grace the menu, too."

Along with the cakes mentioned above, Lloyd's serves up German chocolate cake, chocolate layer cake, and different types of muffins and cupcakes.

All of the items are made by scratch, and started with recipes given to Lloyd by his mother.

Lloyd passed in 2007, and his wife Betty Campbell-Adams took over the bakery — helping "the small bakery's fame and notoriety grow to new heights," reads an About section on Lloyd's Carrot Cake's website.

Sadly, though, Campbell-Adams unexpectedly died in 2020.

Lilka and Brandon, who are Lloyd and Betty's children, now are at the helm of the two bakeries.
