Harlem, New York — Writing a letter to Santa is a treasured tradition for many Harlem families. They’re a lens into the magic of the holiday season through the eyes of a child.

We’ve partnered with T-Mobile so we can all share in their joy. This letter, submitted by Alicia Barksdale in Harlem, was written on behalf of ABC's Toy Giveaway:

"Dear Santa, my name is Alicia. I'm a community liaison and every year I try to get toys for underserved youths in Harlem. The Riverside Church ( at 490 Riverside Dr) Tanys Dunlap , building management Donates a room in their church to have the event, their caterers donates food for them. These children/ youths are from the shelters, Domestic Abuse homes, projected, migrants and other underserved areas in Harlem. On Dec 19, I have a toy giveaway for the Pediatric Outpatient clinic at Harlem Hospital for kids with special needs and youth . I am asking for whatever anyone can give for these youth. Reading Books, coloring books, educational toys, gift cards, socks, underclothes, hats, coats, gloves, simple items. This is my 12th year in doing this dressed like an elf on the shelf. It would be appreciative for any help."

Please note: Your child’s letter may be shared with your community to help spread holiday cheer. However, all fulfillment requests need to be routed separately to the North Pole and/or Santa himself. In other words, these letters are just for fun: Santa won’t be checking the lists on Patch.
