Help Determine Where $10M In Funding Goes In East Harlem
Manhattan BP Mark Levine put out the call Thursday for people to ready ideas for a new fund going toward East Harlem.
EAST HARLEM, NY — An open call for submissions for East Harlem projects funded by a new $10 million initiative was launched on Thursday by Manhattan Borough President Mark Levine.
East Harlem was awarded the funding through the New York State Downtown Revitalization Initiative, which will look to implement "catalytic projects" that can spur revitalization of the neighborhood's commercial corridors.
A Local Planning Committee, which is being co-chaired by Levine and Jessica Walker, the president and CEO of the Manhattan Chamber of Commerce, is now seeking project proposals from the public to be included in the East Harlem Strategic Investment Plan.

"The Downtown Revitalization Initiative funds are great news for East Harlem, showing how crucial this neighborhood is for our region's economic health," Levine said in a news release. "We sought this funding knowing it could be a game changer, fueling the cultural, social, and economic life that makes East Harlem such a vibrant part of our borough."
The plan will be submitted later this year.
