HARLEM, NY - A man has been charged after police say he shot a woman in the head in Harlem nearly a year ago, authorities said.

Avery Dunning, 36, of 400 West 61 St., was charged Tuesday with attempted murder, police said.

The shooting happened around 8:30 a.m. on Feb. 22 inside an apartment on the sixth floor of a building at 60 East 135th St., part of the Lincoln NYCHA development, police said.

The victim, a 41-year-old woman, suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the stomach, thigh, and head. She was rushed to a local hospital where she was listed in critical condition, police said.
