At least 11 sets of remains were found along Ocean Parkway over a decade-long period, but according to the New York Post, the arrest is tied specifically to the so-called "Gilgo Four," four women found wrapped in burlap in 2010.
Heuermann, who lives in Massapequa Park, had his name appear in a New York Daily News story from 2007 about a crumbling apartment building in Harlem.

Two dozen families in September of 2007 were forced to leave the building at 305 W.150th St., near Bradhurst Avenue, as the city investigated whether Heuermann, who was hired to renovate, had falsely identified it as vacant.
Heuermann did not return the Daily News' call in 2007.
"This has been a nightmare," said Jacklin Javier, a resident of the Harlem building told the Daily News at the time. "
It appears that the unsafe conditions at the 305 W. 150th St. address have not been left in the past, as a Department of Buildings violation from 2020 that was resolved, reads — "Unsafe notification indicating unsafe conditions on exterior facade."
