Murder Charge After Homeless Man Fatally Shot In Harlem : Police

HARLEM, NY — An arrest has been made after a homeless man was shot and killed in Harlem in October 2022, police said.

Raheem Jones, 40, was arrested Wednesday and charged with murder and criminal possession of a weapon, in connection to the fatal shooting of Dujuan Williams, 31, police said.

About 3 a.m. on Oct. 22, officers found Williams with a gunshot wound to his chest in the rear of a building at 111 E. 128th St. within the NYCHA Jackie Robinson Houses, police said.

He was rushed to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

It is unclear what led to the shooting.

Jones was subsequently arrested nine months later.

Jones, who lives close to where the shooting took place, had eight prior arrests that included a four-year stint in prison for selling drugs, the New York Daily News reported.
