Man Killed In Double Shooting At East Harlem NYCHA Complex: NYPD

HARLEM, NY — The NYPD is investigating a fatal double shooting that occurred early Monday morning at an East Harlem public housing development.

Officers arrived at the Wagner Houses development on First Avenue near East 120th Street around 1 a.m. to find a 28-year-old man suffering a gunshot wound to the head and a 27-year-old man suffering a gunshot wound to the torso, police said. EMS rushed both men to Harlem Hospital.

The 28-year-old, identified as Bronx resident Terrence Santos, was pronounced dead at Harlem Hospital, police said. The other victim was listed in critical condition, police said.

No arrests have been made in connection with the shootings and the NYPD investigation is ongoing, police said.

The shooting occurred one day after another homicide in East Harlem. On Sunday, 26-year-old Dante Ryer was found in a parked car on East 132 Street suffering from a gunshot wound to the head, police said. Ryer was pronounced dead at Harlem Hospital, police said.

This weekend's murders are the first two reported this year in East Harlem's 25th police precinct, according to precinct crime statistics as of July 7. The 25th precinct spans East 115th Street to East 143rd Street east of Fifth Avenue. Three murders were reported in the precinct in 2018.
