Man Shot In Robbery Attempt At East Harlem Deli, Police Say

A robbery attempt outside an East Harlem bodega ended with the victim being shot in the leg, according to police, who are seeking two men.

EAST HARLEM, NY — A man was shot when two men tried to rob him outside an East Harlem deli, according to police, who released surveillance video and photos of the suspects on Wednesday.

The two men attacked the 44-year-old on First Avenue near East 119th Street on Sept. 22 just before 4:30 p.m., according to police.

Two men first tried to steal the man's property, then one acted as a lookout as the other fought with the victim, police said.

A gun went off in the struggle and the 44-year-old was hit in the right leg, according to police. The two assailants fled without taking any items, police said.

The 44-year-old was taken to Harlem Hospital in stable condition, police said.

Police released photos showing the two suspects, described only as men between 25 and 30 years old.
