HARLEM, NY — A 23-year-old man was slashed in the face while on a subway at 135th Street station in Harlem on Thursday, New York City Police Department officials said.

According to the NYPD, the victim was aboard an uptown-bound 2 train around 1 a.m. when a man slashed him on the right side of his face.

The victim took himself to NYC Health + Hospitals/Harlem, and he is expected to survive the attack, police said.

Police are investigating the incident, and no arrests have been made at this time, authorities said.

Police said it is not yet clear what led up to the attack. Authorities are canvassing the area for security footage.
