Man Slashes Toddler In Random Morningside Heights Attack: Police

A man slashed a toddler in the face with a sharp object as the child was being pushed in a stroller.

MORNINGSIDE HEIGHTS, NY — A toddler was hospitalized after being slashed during a random attack in Morningside Heights, an NYPD spokesperson said.

The young child was being pushed in a stroller Wednesday morning on West 110 Street and Morningside Drive when an unknown man approached and slashed the 2-year-old in the face with an unknown object, police said. A motive for the attack in unclear and under investigation, police said.

Medics took the toddler to a nearby hospital in stable condition, an NYPD spokesperson said.

Police released photos Thursday of a man accused of the attack. Surveillance video released by the NYPD shows the man running away from the scene of the assault.
