MTA Worker Found Dead In Harlem Subway Tunnel, Police Say
The worker appears to have fallen from an elevated platform, police said.

HARLEM, NY — The NYPD is investigating the death of an MTA worker who's body was found Tuesday morning inside a subway tunnel in Harlem, police say.
The 23-year-old man's body was found shortly before 5 a.m. inside of a tunnel at the 125th Street and Lexington Avenue subway station, police said. The worker was lying on the southbound tracks and was unconscious, unresponsive and suffering from trauma to the head, police said.
EMS arrive at the scene and pronounced the man dead, police said.

Investigators believe that the man fell from an elevated platform while working inside the tunnel, police said.
The MTA worker was not identified by police.

The Transport Workers Union Local 100 confirmed that the worker fell and struck his head, the union's president Tony Utano said in a statement.
"There was a terrible tragedy and one of our Brothers was killed on the job early this morning. He apparently fell and struck his head in a tunnel south of the 125th Street Station on the Lexington Avenue line," Utano said in a statement. "A full investigation has begun to determine exactly how this happened. TWU Local 100 extends our deepest condolences and sympathies to the family and we will help them any way we can."
Service on the Lexington Avenue line was disrupted Tuesday morning due to the fatal fall, MTA officials announced.
"We’re sad to report that a New York City Transit employee died this morning after sustaining a fall on the 4, 5 and 6 lines near the 125 St station," the MTA said on Twitter.
Trains on the 4, 5 and 6 lines were suspended as emergency personnel operated at the 125th Street Station, MTA officials said. The lines were back to normal service by 10:30, according to the MTA.
