NYC Man Who Fatally Stabbed GF At Phone Repair Shop Sentenced: DA
Pedro Vinent-Barcia fatally stabbed his then-girlfriend one day after she told a 911 operator he would "kill her one day," officials said.
EAST HARLEM, NY - A Manhattan man who stabbed his ex-girlfriend to death at a cell phone repair store one day after she told a 911 operator he would “kill her one day” was sentenced to 13 years in state prison, authorities said.
Pedro Vinent-Barcia, 67, was handed down the sentence by a New York Supreme Court judge Thursday, Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg said. The sentence comes after a judge found Vinent-Barcia guilty of two counts of manslaughter on Aug. 9 following a four-week trial.
Vinent-Barcia and his then-girlfriend, 51-year-old Bernice Rosado, reportedly got into an argument at her home about whether she owed him money on June 29, 2018, Bragg’s office said. After Vinent-Barcia threatened to kill Rosado during the dispute, she called the police and repeatedly told a 911 operator that he would "kill her one day," the DA’s office said.

The following day, when Rosado went to the East Harlem Telecom repair store near East 123rd Street and 3rd Avenue for a new phone, Vinent-Barcia followed about 40 minutes later with a 12-inch kitchen knife in his pocket. He proceeded to confront Rosado about the money and stabbed her three times in the neck and chest area, Bragg’s office said.
With one of the stab wounds penetrating her heart, Rosado collapsed on the floor bleeding. She was later pronounced dead at Harlem Hospital, the DA's office said.

Vinent-Barcia was arrested two minutes later on the same block as he fled to dispose of the knife, authorities said.
“Today Pedro Vincent-Barcia finally faced accountability for his violent and gruesome stabbing of his girlfriend inside a store in East Harlem,” Bragg said in a statement. “What happened to Bernice Rosado is extremely tragic, but I hope this sentence brings her loved ones a sense of justice to help them on their journey towards healing.”
