NYPD Cop Spews Anti-Gay Slur Over Loudspeaker: VIDEO

HARLEM, NY - A uniformed NYPD officer was captured in a now-viral video shouting an anti-gay slur through a patrol vehicle’s loudspeaker last week.

Per the video, posted to Instagram Thursday by user @skymilezz, the officer can be heard saying “suck my d---, f-----” through the vehicle’s speaker while stopped at a red light in Manhattan’s East Harlem neighborhood. The video has amassed nearly 100,000 likes as of Monday afternoon.

While it's not clear when the video was captured, it appears to have been taken on East 106th Street near Lexington Avenue across the street from Dunrite Glass & Windows, Inc.

The Gay Officers Action League (GOAL) of New York said it was “troubled and appalled” by the incident, according to a statement posted to its website Wednesday.

“We condemn such behavior because it is reprehensible and a severe violation of the trust and expectations we have for our fellow law enforcement professionals,” the organization said. “This incident reminds us of the ongoing prejudices that persist within our society, and the ease with which some resort to hate speech.”

An internal investigation into the incident is ongoing, an NYPD spokesperson told Patch.

"The Department does not tolerate discrimination in any form and is committed to respectful work environments for our diverse workforce," the NYPD spokesperson said. "The incident is under internal review."

GOAL said it will be monitoring the situation closely.

“We expect the results of that investigation to lead to appropriate disciplinary action in line with the NYPD's professional standards,” GOAL added.
