Police Shoot Man In Harlem Whole Foods: NYPD
The man allegedly charged at officers with a knife.

HARLEM, NY — Police shot a man Saturday night in the Harlem Whole Foods store after the man charged at officers with a knife, police officials said.
Officers arrived at the Whole Foods at West 125th Street and Lenox avenue around 8:30 p.m. Saturday after responding to a report of a violent shoplifter in the store, police said. When police encountered the suspected shoplifter he became "increasingly agitated," police said.
The suspected shoplifter pulled a knife and began to charge at one of the officers, police said. The officers commanded the man to drop the knife, but he continued charging, police said. One officer fired his gun twice at the man, striking him once, police said.

The man was taken to Harlem Hospital and is in stable condition, police said. Several police officers were taken to St. Luke's Hospital for observation, police said.
Police did not identify the man who was shot Saturday.
