EAST HARLEM, NY - Firefighters in East Harlem battled an early morning rooftop fire at a luxury apartment building on Madison Avenue Thursday, authorities said.

The blaze at 1770 Madison Ave. between East 116th and 117th streets was reported about 7 a.m., an FDNY spokesperson told Patch.

12 units, including 60 fire and medical personnel, responded to the fire atop the eight-story building, fire officials said.

The fire was deemed under control about 30 minutes later.

No injuries were reported, fire officials said. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
