'She Is Loving, Courageous And Fearless': Harlem Hero

HARLEM, NY — When times are tough, heroes emerge. We all know someone who's making a difference right now as we live through unprecedented and changing times.

Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize these heroes making a difference in their communities. Together with Ring, we’re working to let all your neighbors know about these outstanding people and their stories.

This submission comes from Charles Powell, who nominated Iesha Sekou of Harlem.

Name: Iesha Sekou

Home town: Harlem

Job: Keeps communities safe through her organization Street Corner Resources.

Relationship to nominee: I know her in my role as 2nd Vice Chair of Manhattan Community Board 10.

Reason for recognition: When there is a shooting or act of violence, Iesha and her team is often the first on the scene. Often she single handedly defused dangerous situations; prevents retaliation and is a great support to police and other community partners.

One thing to know: She is loving, courageous and fearless.
