Stranger Punches Woman In Random Harlem Attack, Police Say

The woman was hospitalized after being struck in the head during the seemingly random attack.

HARLEM, NY — A woman was hospitalized this month after being randomly attacked by a stranger in Harlem, police said.

The 68-year-old woman was standing on West 137th Street and Adam Clayton Powell Jr. Boulevard shortly after 5 a.m. on Saturday Oct. 12 when an unknown man approached her and punched her in the head, police said. The attacker and the victim had no interaction with each other before the assault, said police.

Medics took the woman to Harlem Hospital for treatment for pain and a cut on her ear, police said.

Police released a photo of the suspect (seen above) taken by a street-facing security camera near the scene of the attack.
