HARLEM, NY — The man suspected of kicking to death a homeless man outside a popular West Harlem restaurant has been arrested more than a year later, police announced Thursday.

Juan Jimenez, 43, was arrested Friday nearly 20 months after Francisco Sierra Lopez, also 43, was found dead in front of Toast restaurant on Broadway in October 2020, according to police.

Sierra Lopez's death came after a liquor store fight over money and booze with Jimenez, who is also homeless, about 12:30 a.m. on Oct. 4, according to police and reports.

Police found an unconscious Sierra Lopez on Broadway near Tieman Place about an hour later, after someone called 911, the NYPD said.

The Daily News reported Jimenez kicked him in the chest nearly a dozen times, and authorities confirmed Sierra Lopez suffered blunt force trauma and cuts to the torso.

Sierra Lopez was taken to Mount Sinai Saint Luke's Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Jimenez was arrested on a charge of manslaughter in Lower Manhattan, according to police.
