Teen Shot In Front Of Harlem Public Housing Building, Police Say

The 18-year-old victim told police a man walked up to him Tuesday morning and shot him in the left shoulder.

HARLEM, NY — A man was shot early Tuesday morning in front of a West Harlem public housing building, an NYPD spokeswoman said.

An 18-year-old was standing in front of 3250 Broadway — a building in the Manhattanville Houses complex between West 130th and 131st streets — just after midnight Tuesday when an unknown man approached him, police said. The man pulled a gun on the 18-year-old and shot him in the left shoulder, an NYPD spokeswoman said.

The shooting victim was taken to St. Luke's hospital and is expected to survive his injuries, an NYPD spokeswoman said. The shooter fled the scene on foot and has not been arrested, police said.

The Manhattanville Houses are operated by the New York City Housing Authority. The six-building complex is located between Broadway and Amsterdam Avenue from West 129th to 133rd Streets, according to the housing authority.
