Boy, 14, Shot Near 125th Street In Broad Daylight, Police Say

A 14-year-old boy was shot Thursday afternoon near the bustling corner of 125th Street and Lenox Avenue, according to police.

HARLEM, NY — A teenage boy was shot in broad daylight Thursday afternoon near the heart of 125th Street in Central Harlem, according to police.

The 14-year-old victim was standing around noon near the corner of West 126th Street and Lenox Avenue when someone shot him once in the right leg, an NYPD spokesperson said.

Police described the suspects as two males who fled in an unknown direction.

The boy was taken to Harlem Hospital in stable condition, police said. No arrests have been made.

Police gave the location of the shooting as 74 West 126th St., the site of the Christ Center at Transfiguration church. But videos posted to the Citizen app showed authorities condoning off the entire blockfront of Lenox Avenue between West 125th and 126th streets.

That is the same block where two men were shot, including a retired NYPD detective, early one morning in October. Police later arrested a 20-year-old and a 19-year-old in connection with the shooting.
