West Harlem Participatory Budgeting 2018: What's On The Ballot

Help decide which West Harlem projects the city council funds this year. Voting takes place in April, so learn what's on the ballot now.

WEST HARLEM, NY — Want the chance to help spend at least $1 million to fund public improvements in your neighborhood? You're in luck, because it's almost time to vote in this year's New York City Council participatory budgeting cycle.

Starting April 7, residents of City Council District 7 — which spans West Harlem and parts of the Upper West Side and Washington Heights — will be allowed to vote on which improvement projects the government should fund. That's right: the tax money is in your hands now.

This year Council District 7 residents can vote on 11 different projects which address community needs such as housing and school improvements, park upgrades, public safety and senior services.
