The 63-year-old Maryland woman was riding in a for-hire vehicle when a hit-and-run driver struck the vehicle in an East Harlem intersection.

EAST HARLEM, NY — A woman died in the hospital one month after being hurt in an East Harlem car crash by a hit-and-run driver, police said.

Deborah Yvonne Gray was visiting New York City from Maryland when her for-hire vehicle was struck in the intersection of Park Avenue and East 129th Street shortly after midnight on Feb. 17, police said. Medics rushed the 63-year-old woman to Harlem Hospital, where she was pronounced dead on Friday, March 20, police said.

NYPD Collision Investigation Squad detectives determined that Gray's for-hire vehicle was driving through the intersection when the driver of a 2004 black Acura sedan smashed into the vehicle's passenger side, police said. The driver of the Acura got out of the car and fled the scene of the crash on foot, police said.
