Woman Followed Into Her Harlem Building And Attacked: Police

The attacker knocked the woman to the ground and tried to unsuccessfully rip her bag away, police said.

HARLEM, NY — A would-be-robber followed a woman into her building and attacked her in Harlem, police said Wednesday.

The attempted robbery unfolded Feb. 9 about 7 a.m. after a 24-year-old woman was unknowingly trailed into her building near Hamilton Place and West 142nd Street, police said.

When the woman got off the elevator, a man dragged her to the ground while hitting her repeatedly in the back of the head, police said.

The man tried to grab her bag, but wasn't able to and fled the building in an unknown direction, police said.

The woman was taken to a local hospital in stable condition and treated for a cut to the back of her head, police said.
