1 Hudson Valley Town Among '10 Best Places To Live On The East Coast,' In New Rankings

Travel + Leisure ranked the southern Westchester town number 9 out of 10 municipalities selected by the authors.

HARRISON, NY — The town of Harrison is being recognized by Travel + Leisure as one of the "best places to live on the East Coast."

The travel magazine's list ranks Harrison number 9 out of 10 municipalities.

Charleston, South Carolina, tops the list, followed by Alexandria, Virginia; Gloucester, Massachusetts; Newport, Rhode Island; Southampton, New York.; Bethesda, Maryland; Greenwich, Connecticut; Kennebunkport, Maine; and Silver Spring, Maryland.

Although the rankings are populated by some of the best known playgrounds of the rich and famous, Harrison has appeal for some more approachable reasons, according to the report.

The study cited the town's wealth of dining options, proximity to the beach, thriving real estate market, and access to world-renowned public and private golf courses, as reasons that the Westchester town earned a spot on the list.

Travel + Leisure did not detail the methodology used for the list, saying the compiled towns are according to real estate experts.
