HUDSON VALLEY, NY — 'Tis the season for giving back to your community. There are a number of ways that you and your family can help others through the holidays.

Every day through Christmas, Patch will be highlighting a way you can provide compassion and resources to those in need.

Today’s opportunity is for DOROT's Winter Package Delivery.

DOROT's Winter Package Delivery brings hundreds of older adults and volunteers together to share warmth and companionship. Volunteers are needed to deliver a thoughtful, seasonal care package and stay for a 30-45 minute social visit with an older neighbor.

All new Package Delivery volunteers will be required to attend a Zoom orientation on Tuesday, January 21 at 5:30 p.m. (separate registration required; Zoom link will be sent after all steps below are completed). A valid U.S. government-issued photo ID is required to participate in this project.

Registration for this opportunity closes on January 20 to allow for enough time for training and prep work.

This activity requires volunteers to complete the following steps:

  1. Express interest below to record this opportunity in your Volunteer New York! profile and alert the volunteer coordinator.
  2. Click here to complete your registration with DOROT Westchester. Volunteers who do not complete this step will not be registered!
  3. Attend the Zoom orientation for new volunteers on January 21 at 5:30 p.m. (link sent after required steps above are completed)
  4. On January 26 from 10:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m.: pick up a care package from DOROT and deliver your package to your assigned neighbor's home. Stick around for an in-person visit (30-45 minutes).
