BMW Driver Faces Felony Charges In I-95 Westchester Road Rage Gunfire

HARRISON, NY — A Connecticut man has been linked to a dangerous road rage shooting on Interstate-95 in Harrison.

On April 9, the New York State Police, working with the Westchester County District Attorney’s Office, the Westchester County Police Department Warrant Fugitive Unit and the Stamford Police Department, arrested Stephen A. Escoffery of Waterbury, Connecticut, for attempted murder in the second degree, attempted assault in the first degree, criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree, reckless endangerment in the first degree and criminal mischief in the second degree.

In December of 2022, troopers received a report of a shooting on Interstate-95, in the town of Harrison. Investigators say that Escoffery, while driving a 2020 BMW X5 northbound on Interstate-95, discharged a firearm at another motorist during a road rage incident.

With the assistance of the Stamford Police Department in January of 2023, Escoffery was arrested in Connecticut and found to be in possession of a firearm and in violation of probation restrictions from a prior conviction.

At the conclusion of criminal proceedings in Connecticut, an indictment obtained by the Westchester District Attorney’s Office was unsealed and Escoffery was transferred from Connecticut to the Westchester County Jail, following arraignment in Westchester County Court.
