The Bristal at Armonk Hosts Veterans Day Birthday Celebrations
Two Residents of The Bristal Who Served in World War II - One Veteran Celebrated His 100th Birthday, The Other Veteran His 101st Birthday.

The residents of The Bristal at Armonk, celebrated the 100th birthday of Rocco Russo and the 101st birthday of Peter Hahn during a Veterans Day commemoration program.
During World War Two, Mr. Russo served aboard the USS Aucilla, a tanker assigned the very dangerous task of providing fuel to ships in the forward battle areas. The Aucilla was stationed off the coast of Japan when the atomic bomb was dropped. After the war Rocco and his wife of 72 years Winnie settled in Port Chester, before building a home in Greenwich where they raised five children. They have 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Rocco founded the family business Russo Electric in 1976, the family business serves Westchester, Fairfield County and New York City.
101-year-old Peter Hahn was a P-51 fighter pilot. He flew 27 missions over Germany. He provided escort protection to B-52 bombers and was also tasked with destroying enemy planes while they were on the ground. Hahn and his wife Edith were married for 68 years until her passing at the age of 93, in 2018. They lived in Armonk for over 67 years, had three children, seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Peter worked on Madison Avenue as a copywriter for top-tier advertising agencies during the “Madmen Years” which defined the golden era of the advertising industry.
