Some Downtown Trees to Be Removed, Replaced
DPW officials will need to remove several trees along Halstead Avenue this week in order to fix the street's sidewalk. They will be replaced this spring.

Necessary maintenance to a stretch of sidewalk along Halstead Avenue will force the town to part ways with about half a dozen trees.
But local arborists have no need to fear, the town plans to replace the trees this spring.
The trees had grown roots into the sidewalk near King Street, creating an uneven surface that began to pose a safety concern.
