Firefighters from Harrison and Rye spent more than three hours patiently searching for the source of the smoke before singling out a linen closet toward the back of the home. At that time they were able to determine that a light fixture outside the home had been burning, but wind had blown the smoke into the home's ventilation system located near the closet.
"The smoke was drifting inside the house, so there was no sign of smoke or fire outside," said Harrison Fire Chief Dino Del Signore. "The smoke was being pushed inside."
