Fugitive Attempted Murder Suspect Wanted In MD, Caught In Harrison
Spotting expired New Jersey temporary tags led a police officer to investigate further, leading to an unexpected encounter.
HARRISON, NY — A fugitive on the run made several mistakes, one of which was visiting Harrison while on the lam.
Thanks to the keen observation of a Harrison police officer, a man wanted for attempted murder is now in custody, police announced on Tuesday.
During a state-funded DWI enforcement detail, Officer Michael Forgione noticed an expired New Jersey temporary license plate on a vehicle on Westchester Avenue. He stopped the car on Thursday, Dec. 8, shortly before 8 p.m.

Officer Forgione soon discovered that the driver had an arrest warrant from the state of Maryland for attempted first degree murder, assault in the first degree and firearm charges in commission of a violent felony.
The driver was picking up a friend from the West Harrison area when he was stopped and arrested. He was charged as a Fugitive from Justice and remanded to the Westchester County Corrections Facility pending extradition to Maryland.

"Our officers are always on the alert," Harrison Police Chief John Vasta said of the arrest. "I commend Officer Forgione for helping to keep the streets of Harrison safer for all."
