Harrison Police Will Now Carry A New Lifesaving Tool
Patrol cars will now be equipped with Epipens for times when seconds count and police officers are the first to arrive on the scene.

HARRISON, NY — In just the past two years, officers of the Harrison Police Department have helped to save the lives of accident victims, athletes suffering from cardiac arrest, overdose victims, and even a resident suffering from a mental health crisis and determined to hurt themselves. Now, the force has a new lifesaving tool in its arsenal.
The Harrison Police Department announced uniformed patrol officers are now equipped with epinephrine auto-injectors (EPIPEN). The department is among a select few police agencies in New York State that have received the necessary training and authorizations to carry the prescription medication.
"Oftentimes, a timely response with the appropriate tools for any incident is imperative for a successful outcome and this is absolutely true for an anaphylactic reaction," the department said in a statement announcing the initiative. "Officers will now have the ability to intervene early in what could potentially be a fatal medical condition. The Department would like to thank the Harrison Emergency Medical Service for their assistance in coordinating and implementing the training of all Harrison Officers."
