TUESDAY: Purchase College is hosting “Wolf, Wolf? Hurricane Sandy, Weather Forecasting and Global Climate Change,” at 7 p.m.Tuesday in Room 1001 of its Natural Sciences Building. Lecturer Joel Tenenbaum, research professor of meteorology and scientific computing at the college, will focus on how to get the public to take hurricane warnings issued by weather forecasters seriously and realize how global climate change will impact the way we look at hurricane threats. WEDNESDAY: Artist Jules de Balincourt will give a talk Wednesday, September 18 at 6:30 p.m. as part of the Visiting Artist Lecture Series being conducted this fall by Purchase College, SUNY’s School of Art+Design in the college’s Visual Arts Building, Room 1016. de Balincourt is known for his abstract and figurative paintings of utopian, dystopian and marginalized communities as well as American politics. de Balincourt sets his lens to both macro and micro, zooming in and out of physical and psychic realities that form individual and collective experiences.
