HHS Students Honored For Excellence in Italian

Several students were recognized for their achievements as part of Italian Heritage and Culture Month.

Five Harrison standouts were honored this month for their love of Italian heritage and culture. The awards were given out to honor Italian Heritage and Culture Month.

The students were nominated by Harrison High School staff and were honored earlier this month at the Antonio Meucci Lodge, a member of The Order Sons of Italy in America, the oldest and largest Italian-American service and advocacy group in the country.

Nicole Anne Barletta, Silvia Buonocore, Sarah Navarra, Cayla Pettinato and Amanda Tamucci were the Harrison students honored.

Two other Harrison students were also recognized for their achievement in Italian studies this month. The Columbus Day Society of Harrison selected senior Cayla Pettinato as the recipient of their annual scholarship.

The Westchester County Board of Legislatures will also recognize Harrison sophomore Alessia Solimeo at their annual Italian Heritage and Culture Month Proclamation Ceremony on Oct. 17.

The students’ level of experience with Italian ranges from level 2, through level 5 and advanced placement.
