How A Real-Time Crime Tip Led To Capture Of Fugitive By Harrison Cops

A tale of justice with a little bit of everything: a BMW X5 stolen from the NYPD impound, a fugitive from justice, cocaine & a switchblade.

HARRISON, NY — Once again, passing through Westchester County proves to be the undoing of those up to no good, police said.

On August 29, 2023 at approximately 10:30 p.m., Harrison Police Department dispatch received a notification from the Westchester County Real Time Crime Center that a stolen BMW X5 was headed northbound on the Hutchinson River Parkway. The car was not only associated with the commission of a crime involving a firearm, but it had earlier been stolen out of an NYPD impound yard, according to police.

Harrison Police Officer Joseph Ader positioned himself in an area where he believed he would intercept that BMW. He soon saw that vehicle pass his position on Westchester Ave. and stopped the car. Officer Ader, with backup from other officers, was able to take the four people in the car into custody.
