Day of Hugs a Hit at Harrison Library

About two dozen people gathered outside the West Harrison Library Saturday afternoon to let the library just how much they care.

With open arms extended, about 25 people took time out of their Saturday to give the a big hug this weekend.

The library hosted the event to celebrate the end of , a week dedicated to celebrating all that public libraries have to offer. Teenagers, adults and children formed a chain about halfway around the library Saturday morning and actually hugged the building.

"They told us how much they loved us," said Harrison Library Director Galina Chernykh. "It was really, really good."

Chernykh thanked her staff for working hard to get the word out about the event and the dedicated folks who participated in the half-hour ceremony. Dave Donelson, the newest member of the Harrison library's Board of Trustees was also on hand.

The library staff hosted a book sale and accepted donations for the library after the event.

Plans are already in the works to host a similar event next year, possibly including a picnic to draw an even larger crowd.
