The Osborn Presents Dr. Lisa Berkman on a “Successful Aging Society”
-October 21 at 7:00 pm-

The Osborn will launch the fall season of its popular WellSpring Series with Dr. Lisa Berkman discussing a “Successful Aging Society” on Tuesday, October 21 at 7:00 pm. The event, which is free and open to the public, will be held at The Osborn Auditorium (101 Theall Road, Rye, NY).
An esteemed international expert in aging societies, Dr. Berkman is the Thomas D. Cabot Professor of Public Policy and of Epidemiology at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. Much of her current work relates to aging societies.
The world is facing a demographic transition where there are now more people over 60 than under 5 globally. Most countries, including the United States, are now aging societies. This transition is the result of both improvements in life expectancy and lower birth rates. Aging societies call for us to rethink the roles of older men and women in our society as well as the opportunities for all Americans to think about lifelong education, more flexible patterns of work, and new family and friendship dynamics.
