Pipe Problem Floods SUNY Purchase Office
A disconnected pipe caused flooding in two SUNY Purchase offices.

A drain pipe that became disconnected during Thursday night's powerful thunderstorm leaked water into two offices on the SUNY Purchase campus, causing flood damage.
Water entered the offices from the ceiling, dropping ceiling tiles to the floor. It was posted on a school web site that their was a ceiling collapse in the building, but SUNY Purchase Spokesperson Geraldine Sanderson said that their was no major structural damage.
"It caused a lot of flooding and some ceiling tiles came down but it was not a roof collapse at all," Sanderson said, adding that the office is used for student services and publications among other things.

No one was hurt when the pipe burst and it has been re-connected. Maintenance workers were still cleaning up the offices on Friday morning, according to Sanderson. She said she didn't know how long it would take to clean up the mess.
Thursday night's thunderstorm also cancelled at least two athletic events at Harrison High School and caused major damage in areas of New York City.
