Purchase College Jazz Artist Anaïs Reno's Citifield Tribute

PURCHASE, NY — The eyes of New York were on a 17-year-old Purchase College freshman on the 20th Anniversary of 9/11.

In front of an audience of first responders, the 2001 Mets team members, and with the current Mets and Yankees teams standing intermingled shoulder to shoulder, Anaïs Reno surprised the audience by including the second verse of the beloved song. When she finished, the crowd burst into chants of “USA.”

Anaïs Reno is a first-year student in the jazz studies program and an Ella Fitzgerald scholar.
Reno was also featured in the New York State of Mind video featuring some of New York’s best know entertainers released last summer by NYCNEXT to celebrate the “reopening” of New York City following COVID pandemic shutdowns.

Born in Geneva, Switzerland, she’s called New York home since she was one.

Performing since she was eight, Reno has already released an album, Lovesome Thing, which celebrates the music of Duke Ellington and Billy Strayhorn, accompanied by the Emmet Cohen Trio. Peaking at #6, “Lovesome Thing” can still be found on iTunes’ Top 40 US Jazz Albums.
