Threat of Hurricane Cancels Classes at Purchase
All classes and activities on the campus are cancelled Monday as Hurricane Irene threatens Westchester County.

Classes at are cancelled Monday in the anticipation of Hurricane Irene hitting the area this weekend.
Students moving back to campus are advised to avoid doing so this weekend, as the storm is expected to hit sometime Sunday afternoon, according to a statement released by the school. Returning students were originally scheduled to move back to campus on Sunday.
Freshman orientation at Purchase will go on as scheduled Friday, the statement read, but any freshman who do not wish to travel this weekend can move in on Monday.

Students are advised to call 914-251-7500 for more information as the storm develops.
Returning students at , meanwhile, are being encouraged to move back early, on Saturday from 1 - 6 p.m., before the storm is expected to arrive. Freshman and new students are asked to move in as scheduled Saturday morning, according to a statement posted on the school's Facebook page.
