Tragedy On I-287: Pedestrian On Highway Killed By Tractor-Trailer

The fatal accident happened late Monday night when a yet-to-be-identified man was reportedly standing in the center lane of the highway.

HARRISON, NY — A pedestrian was killed by a tractor-trailer on I-287 in Harrison late Monday night, according to the New York State Police.

Police, fire departments and EMS crews responded to the scene of the incident, which took place at approximately 10:45 p.m. State police say that the tractor-trailer had been traveling west on I-287, near Harrison, when the pedestrian was struck.

The man had been standing in the center lane and the tractor-trailer could not stop in time, according to New York State Police troopers.

He was pronounced dead at the scene by the Westchester County Medical Examiner's Office. The man's identity will not be released until his family is notified, according to officials.

The NYSP say that all drivers involved in the incident stayed on the scene and cooperated with investigators. No criminal activity is suspected.
