White Plains Hospital and Stop & Shop Unload Thanksgiving Turkeys

White Plains Hospital Personnel Help Unload 1,250 Turkeys that Stop & Shop's Turkey Express Program Donated to Feeding Westchester

Doctors, Nurses and other hospital personnel from White Plains Hospital helped unload 1,250 Thanksgiving Turkeys that Stop & Shop donated to Feeding Westchester to battle hunger and food insecurity in Westchester.

Stop & Shop’s Turkey Express program will deliver over 25,000 turkeys and gift cards, a total value of more than $600-thousand to hunger relief organizations in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Massachusetts and Rhode Island this holiday season.

This year Feeding Westchester has distributed over 23 million pounds of food, equivalent to more than 19 million meals.

Feeding Westchester:

  • 1 in 3 Westchester households are at risk of hunger.
  • Feeding Westchester provided food through more than 229,000 neighbor visits, including 80,000 children, every month on average in FY24
  • Feeding Westchester works alongside nearly 300 partners and programs, such as soup kitchens, food pantries, schools, shelters, residential programs, and direct distributions.
  • Nearly 40% of the food Feeding Westchester distributes is fresh produce. This percentage has stayed consistent no matter the quantity of food that is distributed.
