Motorcyclist Seriously Injured In Suffolk Crash Monday: Police
The motorcyclist was thrown during the crash, which took place in the Long Island Expressway HOV lane, police say.
ISLANDIA, NY — A motorcyclist was seriously injured in a crash Monday morning, police said.
According to Suffolk County police, the crash took place in the HOV lane of the westbound Long Island Expressway near Exit 58 in Islandia at 11:29 a.m.
A man, 51, of Ridge, was driving a 2025 Dodge Pickup truck westbound in the HOV lane when James Coon, 61, of Patchogue, who was on a 2014 Honda motorcycle, attempted to cross in front of him, police said.

The vehicles collided, causing Coon to be ejected from the motorcycle, police said.
Coon was transported via ambulance to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore for treatment of serious physical injuries, police said.

The Ridge man was not injured, police said.
Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks; anyone with information on the crash is asked to contact Fourth Squad detectives at 631-854-8452.
