• Some license fees for doing business in Suffolk could double under new bill (newsday.com) — Suffolk County lawmakers are set to hold a Dec. 16 general meeting in Hauppauge where they may vote on a bill that would significantly raise license fees for many local trades and businesses starting in 2026. Home improvement contractors, painters, pool services, pet groomers and others could see annual or biannual fees jump by as much as $100 as the county updates long-unchanged rates.
