Special Ed Students Test Life Skills at Local Eateries

Students in the special education department at Hauppauge schools killed two birds with one stone by taking their lessons into local eateries by practicing their restaurant skills.

The special education department was awarded a Lifetown grant through Nassau Suffolk Autism Society of America (NSASA).

NSASA gave the district two gift cards; one for the Hauppauge Palace Diner and the other to Brancinelli’s.

As part of this learning experience, students selected items from the menu, placed their orders and used appropriate table manners.
