Woman's 2023 Assault In Islandia Remains Unsolved; Police Seeking Information
A 45-year-old woman was assaulted in a wooded area behind Walmart, police say. The department is still looking for her attacker.
ISLANDIA, NY — The case involving a woman being assaulted in Islandia approximately a year-and-a-half ago remains unsolved, and the Suffolk County Police Department is seeking the public's help finding her attacker.
A 45-year-old woman was assaulted in a wooded area behind Walmart, at 1850 Veterans Memorial Highway in Islandia, on Dec. 20, 2023, police said. The woman was transported to a hospital where she was treated and released, police said.
Detectives are seeking the public’s assistance to identify and locate the suspect.

The renewed focus on this unresolved case is part of a wider effort during National Crime Victims’ Rights week. The Suffolk County Police Department and Suffolk County Crime Stoppers will highlight several unsolved cases on the department’s social media pages this week.

Crime Stoppers is offering fast-cash rewards for information leading to an arrest in the case of the Islandia assault, as well as four other cases in Suffolk County.
Other cases include the unsolved murder of a man in Central Islip; and fatal hit-and-runs in Amityville, Farmingville and Ronkonkoma.
The rewards will be issued within seven days of arrest.
"Our partnership with Crime Stoppers has been instrumental in solving cases for more than three
decades," Suffolk County Police Kevin Catalina said in a news release. "By highlighting these unsolved cases, we hope to bring justice to these victims and their families. We are asking the public to come forward with any information they think could aid in our investigations."
