Here are the top three stories today in Brooklyn Heights-DUMBO:

  1. After a neighborhood campaign a new smoke shop in Brooklyn Heights has removed its bright neon sign, which many in the community were concerned would be an eyesore and could have negative affects on children. The shop will be open until 3 a.m. on most nights, according to an employee. (Brooklyn Daily Eagle)
  2. Wednesday runners participated in a 50-mile Black history tour of New York City. It took them all the way from Staten Island to the Plymouth Church in Brooklyn Heights, which was once a stop on the Underground Railroad, to beyond. (News 12 Connecticut)
  3. DUMBO has a "dynamic and fresh" arts scene, according to 6Sqft. A reporter from the online magazine visited the neighborhood Wednesday, highlighting the BID's public art exhibitions and local institutions like the Cuban Art Space. (6Sqft)
