BROOKLYN HEIGHTS, BROOKLYN — The Brooklyn Historical Society will host a food historian, a stop-and-frisk expert, and a slavery scholar among its guests this week. Here's the full list of upcoming fascinating discussions that Brooklyn Heights Blog put together for the community:

Tuesday, Dec. 13, 7 p.m.: Sarah Lohman, a food historian, will talk about "How Immigrant Cooks Shape American Food." Alongside her, Jonathan Wu of Lower East Side restaurant Fung Tu and Mario Carbone of Carbone in Soho will be speaking. Admission is $10, $5 for BHS or Green-Wood members. Get your tickets here.

Wednesday, Dec. 14, 6:30 p.m.: Michael D. White, an expert on Stop and Frisk and a criminologist, will discuss his book at the BHS called Stop and Frisk: The Use and Abuse of a Controversial Policing Tactic. Admission is $10, $5 for BHS or Green-Wood members. Buy tickets here.

Thursday, Dec. 15, 6:30 p.m.:

Andrés Reséndez writes about the mass enslavement of Indians in America, a piece of history he believes America has forgotten. "Reséndez builds the incisive case that it was mass slavery, more than epidemics, that decimated Indian populations across North America," Amazon says of his book, The Other Slavery: The Uncovered Story of Indian Enslavement in America, which he will talk about at the BHS. "the myth-shattering story of the mass enslavement of American Indians by European colonists, which he argues was a major factor in the decimation of indigenous populations across North America."
