Here are the top four stories today in Brooklyn Heights-DUMBO:
- A worker is dead after falling off a Brooklyn Heights construction site at 125 Columbia Heights. "My heart goes out to the loved ones of the deceased," Lincoln Restler said on Twitter, "Like this tragedy, these avoidable deaths often involve Latino workers at non-union construction sites." (Audacy)
- You may have heard of Brooklyn Heights' mysterious 58 Joralemon Street, which, although it appears like a townhouse, is in reality an MTA "vent" and emergency exit off-limits to the public. Recently, Brooklyn Heights resident Ben Upper created the first-ever video game about the station, and he'd really like to get a look inside. (Gothamist)
- Some of the Clark Street subway station businesses still haven't received rental assistance months after the station's elevators closed, including Salahuddin Aziz, who runs the Sun News newsstand. Others have seen their business practically disappear, and they're worried they won't be able to stay open if the station's reopening is delayed by even as little as a month. (NY City Lens)
- Speaking of the MTA, there's no Manhattan-bound A or C train service at High Street this weekend, as they are diverted to the F line. There's also no Manhattan-bound service from Court Street. (Brooklyn Heights Blog)
