Here are the top three stories today in Brooklyn Heights-DUMBO:
- Students at Fort Greene's PS 46 were excited to see flowers they planted back in October bloom earlier this week. They were part of The Daffodil Project, and planted with the help of Councilwoman Crystal Hudson, who joined students on Tuesday to advocate for increased parks department funding citywide. (Brooklyn Paper)
- In a last-minute deal Councilwoman Hudson announced her support of two towers on Atlantic Avenue. She had previously opposed them, saying that they only brought 25 percent affordable housing, therefore not meeting the community's needs, but reversed course after reaching a deal with the developer to increase the affordable units to 35 percent. (Patch)
- The Brooklyn Public Library is issuing e-cards to anyone aged 13 to 21 across the country, in an effort to provide access nationwide to banned books. Teenagers and young adults will have access to hundreds of thousands of online and hard copy titles. (Brooklyn Reader)
