DUMBO, BROOKLYN — A 29-year-old father of four was shot dead by a female attacker outside the Farragut Houses on June 15, police said.

According to the police source, Villot had been standing in front of the building with a group of friends when a woman approached the group with a gun.

She began arguing with members of the group and fired at them, the source said — shooting Villot, who had apparently tried to intervene.

The New York Daily News reported that the shooter had already fired into the crowd before Villot stepped forward to stop her. She "stormed off but turned around and fired one final shot," which struck Villot, according to the paper.

Villot's sister, Michelle, told the Daily News that before his death, Villot had been trying to get people to go inside the building for their protection.

Michelle said the woman wasn't a stranger to Villot or the other Farragut residents, and that he "knew her well enough to try to talk her out" of shooting again.

"I don't want to believe that she did it on purpose because we knew that they were really good friends," Michelle said. "Her being under the influence? Maybe yes. Other than that I don't see a motive. She was just aiming at whoever. She didn't care really."

The Daily News also reported that Villot had been arrested numerous times, primarily for robbery and drugs, and that he was a member of a local gang.

(One Facebook commenter, Brolik Beats, disputed this: "[A]in't no gang thing he was just trying to diffuse the situation. [News] always trying to make somebody look bad."

No arrests had been made as of Tuesday afternoon, according to the NYPD, and an investigation into the shooting was ongoing.

A GoFundMe campaign set up to help Villot's family said the victim had two sisters and four sons.

"If you know Luis above all else, he was a devoted Father who loved his son's more than anything," wrote Lonnell Jones, who set up the campaign.

"This was another example of senseless gun violence that has took another young life," Jones wrote. "This tragic event not only effected family & friends, but also [struck at] the issue of creating a better sense of community and awareness to working together to end the gun violence in Brooklyn and in particular Farragut Houses."

As of Tuesday afternoon, the campaign had raised $640 from 14 donors.

On Facebook, a woman named Khiana Dubose wrote a tribute to Villot, whom she called "Henney Lue."
"Our building will NEVER be the same without you my guy!!!!" Dubonse wrote. "We had nothing but GOOD times. You was my ONLY friend over here. I'll definitely miss our deep talks about any and everything .. you ALWAYS showed me and my family genuine love and loyalty! This pain is different .. they'll NEVER be another you."

Another friend, Naiquan Midyett, wrote:

"Today was a long day Henney Lue. It wasn't easy. I shed some more tears, before during and after work. On the way home I was hoping to see you at the usual spot we always stop and chop it up at. But you wasn't there man. And I waited for alil bit hoping you wud come walkin up the street. But when you didn't show up I just held my head to the sky and ask why??"
